For years, we’ve proudly served our communities as Midwest Pest Control. It’s a name that represents where we started; local, hardworking, and rooted in the Midwest. When we first started, it was just the two of us, Max and Nate, doing everything ourselves. Knocking doors, running routes, answering calls. Today, we’ve built something bigger than just a small operation. We’ve built a team. A culture. A standard. And we needed a name that can carry that forward.
We’ll always be proud to be part of the Midwest. It shaped who we are and who we serve, and that connection isn’t going anywhere. The name has served us well over the years and represents a region we care deeply about. But the reality is, the name “Midwest” is widely used in businesses, and as we grew, we began to feel the limitations of blending in rather than standing out. We wanted a name that was unmistakably ours; something that reflects the strength of our work, the independence of our company, and the lasting relationships we build with our customers. As we’ve evolved, it became clear we needed a brand that was just as solid, recognizable, and enduring as the service we provide every day
What Slate Means to Us
We didn’t choose the name “Slate” randomly. It represents exactly who we are, how we operate, and what we’re building for the future.
1. Strength & Reliability
Slate is known for its durability. It’s the kind of material that holds up over time, through weather, pressure, and wear. That idea resonates deeply with how we approach our work. We believe pest control shouldn’t be inconsistent or reactive. It should be steady, dependable, and done right every time. When a customer chooses us, they’re trusting us to protect their home and their family, and that’s not something we take lightly. “Slate” reflects that commitment to being rock solid; showing up when we say we will, doing the job thoroughly, and standing behind our work day in and day out.
2. Clean, Natural, Earthy
Slate feels clean and intentional. It has a natural, earthy tone; not flashy, not overdone, just solid and refined. It reflects our commitment to eco-conscious treatments and doing things the right way, not the easy way. That aligns closely with how we run our business. We’ve always believed in doing things the right way, even when it’s not the easiest or fastest option. From the products we use, to the way we communicate with customers, we aim to keep things straightforward, honest, and thoughtful. The name “Slate” carries that grounded, professional feel; a quiet confidence that reflects a company focused on doing things the right way, with care for both your home, the people and pets in it, and the environment.
3. Metamorphic by Nature
One of the most meaningful parts of the name comes from what slate actually is: a metamorphic rock, formed over time through heat and pressure. That process felt like a perfect parallel to our journey. This company wasn’t built overnight. It was shaped through long days, hard lessons, and constant effort to improve. Every challenge helped refine how we operate, how we lead, and how we serve our customers. In a way, we’ve been “metamorphic” from the beginning, always growing, always evolving, always pushing to become better. Just like insects that go through metamorphosis, we’re shaped over time; refined by experience, effort, and challenge. Transformation and growth isn’t something we fear; it’s at the core of everything we do and how we become better than we were yesterday.
Thank you!
We’re incredibly excited about this next chapter as Slate Pest Control, but more than anything, we’re grateful. Grateful for the team who shows up every day and takes pride in their work, and grateful for the customers who have trusted us in their homes and businesses over the years. This change is about building something that lasts — not just a brand, but a company our team is proud to be part of and our customers can rely on for years to come. Our commitment hasn’t changed. If anything, it’s stronger than ever.

Frequently Asked Questions
Did you sell your company?
Heck no! There’s been no change in ownership and no outside investors stepping in. We’re still the same local, family-owned team you know and trust, running the business the same way we always have. The only thing that’s changed is the name and look. We are still your same neighborhood bug guys, committed to taking great care of your home.
When will the change happen?
The transition will happen gradually over the coming months, updating one piece at a time so nothing feels rushed or confusing. You’ll start to see the new brand roll out across things like our trucks, uniforms, and communication, while everything else continues as normal. Our priority is making sure your service experience stays consistent while we update our branding behind the scenes. By the end of the year, we’ll be fully switched over and looking sharp as Slate Pest Control.
Why are you changing?
As we’ve grown, we wanted a name that stands out and better reflects the quality you know and trust. Slate Pest Control represents a stronger, more distinctive brand, one that feels professional, memorable, and built to last. While the name is new, everything behind it remains the same: the same trusted team, the same commitment to excellent service, and the same dedication to protecting your home.
Will my service or price change?
Not at all! There are no changes to your service or your pricing. Everything you expect stays exactly the same. You’ll continue to see the same team, receive the same treatments, and enjoy the same reliable care you’re used to. If anything, our goal is to keep improving behind the scenes so your experience only gets better over time, without costing you anything extra.
